SelfprojectA journal of free software education

The Journal

About Selfproject

Selfproject is a journal about free software education: the open courses, the licensing ideas and the communities behind teaching software that anyone may use, study, share and improve. It covers the present-day landscape of open learning materials, the licences that keep them open, and the projects and organisations that carry the work.

The author

Maarten Vels writes and edits the journal. He is an education writer who has spent the better part of two decades around free software communities, as a course facilitator, documentation contributor and open-content advocate. His interest sits at the junction of licensing and pedagogy: what happens to teaching material when the law lets anyone improve it.

Editorial approach

Guides are tested against the current state of the resources they recommend and revised when links or licences change. Profiles of organisations draw on their own published records. Corrections are welcome at [email protected].
